Week ONE: And the FREEBIE shopping begins ;)

I've always thought of myself to be quite the thrifty shopper, especially when it comes to what I'm wearing ;) So I wasn't surprised when I began the hunt for more furniture that I'd be super excited about these awesome freebies. Yes, they were just begging to be picked up by mwahhh !

 

 

The second I saw these offcuts on Gumtree, I was on the phone like ASAP ! We picked up 3 pieces (which we'll sand and lacquer), a medium sized slab which we'll use as an outdoor table and two medium sized logs which we'll use as side tables in the lounge. Pics to follow ;)

The perks of being married to a removalist? You can arrange to pick up these huge, heavy items at a moment's notice. Hubby came in quite handy the day I saw this piece on Gumtree. If it weren't for him, I would've missed out ! He's such a darl ;)

This is definately one of those moments where you really need to see the potential in something hahaaa ! This table wasn't free BUT it only cost $20 and I have a plan ! Pics to follow ;)

The outside renos are NOT my responsibility *wink wink honeyy* BUT I did manage to find these second hand steel gates which we'll upcycle and use at the back of the house. They are still in excellent condition and I'm sure a few coats of paint will liven these babies right up ! That's a few hundy worth of savings right there surely.

In the hope of creating a bit more space in our backyard, we desperately needed to replace our rotary line with a wall mounted version. A few minutes on Gumtree and Voilà ! It needs a light sand and spray, we'll for sure replace the line, but once we’re done with it, it’ll be good as new !

TIP: If you're on the hunt for freebies, make sure you have the means to collect the item ASAP. Generally, the owners just want the item to disappear and they’ll give it to the first person who can actually collect it. Rule of thumb? First In First Served !
